Rivian recalls R1T and R1S electric vehicles for seatbelt safety fix

Rivian has announced a recall of a small number of its R1T and R1S electric vehicles due to a potential issue with the second-row seatbelt system. The recall affects some Rivian R1T pickups from model years 2022–2025 and Rivian R1S SUVs from model years 2022–2026, with a total of 869 vehicles potentially involved.

According to the manufacturer, bolts securing the second-row seatbelt retractors on both the driver and passenger sides may have been insufficiently tightened during assembly. If the mechanism is not fully secured, the seatbelt might not provide adequate restraint in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Rivian will inspect the affected vehicles and, if necessary, tighten the fasteners at no cost to owners. The company plans to start mailing notification letters on March 9, 2026. This recall is registered with the NHTSA under campaign number 26V009000. For more details, owners can contact Rivian's customer service and reference recall number FSAM-1795.
