iCAR V27 SUV: hybrid off-road model with 1,200 km range spotted
On January 24, the new iCAR V27 SUV was spotted at a Chinese dealership, following its earlier blind-order opening. To participate, buyers only need to place a deposit, for which the brand promises purchase tax compensation, gifts during test drives, and an exclusive bonus upon vehicle delivery. Official sales are scheduled to begin in the first quarter.
Externally, the iCAR V27 features a new brand style that blends classic hardcore SUV traits with more modern, avant-garde design. A narrow grille with square headlights, circular lighting graphics, and a massive silver bumper guard create an aggressive and easily recognizable look.
The side profile is distinctly angular, with a straight roofline that promises ample headroom. The rear stands out with an external spare tire, extended wheel arches, and a side-swing tailgate with a vertical handle. The model measures up to 5,055 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width, and up to 1,894 mm in height, with a wheelbase reaching 2,910 mm.
The interior maintains iCAR's family architecture but emphasizes off-road functionality. Inside, there's a suspended central screen, below which are physical buttons and air vents. The center console includes wireless charging pads, a drive mode selector, and cupholders. As with other brand models, this vehicle is expected to forgo a traditional instrument panel.
The powertrain is a hybrid with extended range, based on a 1.5-liter turbo engine and an electric motor. The internal combustion engine produces 105 kW, while the all-wheel-drive version can deliver up to 335 kW of combined power. Electric-only range exceeds 200 km under the CLTC cycle, with a total range reaching over 1,200 km.
The iCAR V27 appears to target the niche of affordable yet genuinely rugged hybrid SUVs. Its combination of design, a 2,910 mm wheelbase, and long range could make it highly appealing in the Chinese market.
