GM service update for 2023 Chevrolet Equinox fuel pump issues

General Motors has issued a new service bulletin for owners of the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The issue involves potential error codes related to fuel pump management. The documentation lists codes P228C, P0089, and P00C6, which may appear in some vehicles from this model year.

Service update N252524761, dated January 27, 2026, remains active until the end of February 2029. GM emphasizes that this problem doesn't require part replacements. Unlike major recall campaigns, this is a software adjustment. Dealers must reprogram the engine control module using the proprietary Service Programming System, after first checking the VIN for campaign eligibility.

The update applies both to vehicles at dealerships and those coming in for any scheduled service. This isn't a mandatory visit but a recommended action—GM plans to address the issue during routine maintenance. Reimbursement for previously paid repairs is possible, but claims are only accepted until February 28, 2027.

The service campaign covers the sole available engine for the 2023 Equinox: a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit from the LSD family, producing 175 horsepower. It pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

GM notes that this update aims to prevent potential fuel system issues and enhance the long-term stability of the ECU.
