Electric MINI Cooper wins 2025 safest city compact car award
The all-electric MINI Cooper has been named the 'safest city compact car of 2025' by Euro NCAP. MINI Korea announced this based on the comprehensive evaluation results from the program's testing last year.
In tests designed to closely mimic real-world driving conditions, all versions of the all-electric MINI Cooper lineup—including the SE and JCW models—achieved the top rating of 5 stars. The company highlights that these results officially confirm the model's safety advantage over competitors.
Euro NCAP assesses vehicles in four key areas: adult occupant protection, child protection, protection of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists, and the performance of driver assistance systems. The electric MINI Cooper scored highly across all categories.
In child protection, the model earned 23.8 out of 24 points in frontal and side crash tests, along with a perfect 12 out of 12 for child seat installation. For adult occupant protection, it recorded 15.5 out of 16 points in side impacts and 14 out of 16 in frontal collisions.
The forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems prevented accidents in most tests. In AEB evaluations for avoiding collisions with cyclists and motorcyclists, the model scored 7.8 out of 8 and 6 out of 6 points, respectively.
