Toyota Prius 2026 update details: light facelift and improvements
Toyota is preparing a minor update for the Prius. According to Japanese media reports, dealers in Japan may stop taking orders for the current version as early as February 2026, with the changes expected in summer 2026.
This will be a light facelift, not a full generation change. The Prius is expected to keep its current formula: no major design overhaul or extensive interior revisions. Instead, look for subtle exterior tweaks, new optional features, and potential improvements in technology or efficiency.
The fifth-generation Prius launched in 2023 and significantly changed the model's image, becoming lower and wider with a more modern interior and higher-quality materials. Against this backdrop, U.S. sales have grown, rising from 36,919 units in 2022 to 56,488 in 2025. As Toyota expands its hybrid lineup, the Prius remains a key entry point for buyers seeking affordable hybrids.
