Subaru Trailseeker electric crossover launches in Australia in 2026
Subaru has announced an expansion of its electric vehicle lineup for the Australian market. In the second quarter of 2026, the fully electric mid-size crossover Trailseeker will go on sale, becoming a key model in the brand's new phase of electrification.
The Trailseeker will slot above the compact Solterra, offering more space and power. Based on a joint Toyota-Subaru architecture, this model is known in Europe as the E-Outback and in North America as the Trailseeker. For Subaru Australia, the electric crossover is positioned as a new embodiment of the brand's adventure-focused approach, combining all-wheel drive with practicality.
Technically, the Trailseeker will become the fastest production Subaru ever. Its powertrain delivers a combined 280 kW, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.4 seconds. The crossover features symmetrical all-wheel drive, 211 mm of ground clearance, and is built on the e-Subaru Global Platform. A 74.7 kWh CATL battery provides a range of up to 533 km, while support for 150 kW DC fast charging allows replenishing from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
The launch of the Trailseeker aligns with Subaru Australia's active product strategy. In recent months, the market has seen new generations of the Forester, Solterra, and Outback, along with a special edition BRZ. This new electric crossover will strengthen the brand's position in the EV segment and serve as the flagship of its electric lineup, maintaining core Subaru values—all-wheel drive, safety, and a focus on active use.
