Honda recalls vehicles due to driver's seat defect: what owners need to know

Honda has announced a recall for a limited number of 2023 and 2024 model year vehicles in the United States due to a potential driver's seat defect. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue stems from a software error in the robotic equipment used to tighten bolts securing the seat height adjustment mechanism.

This malfunction could have caused the bolts to be tightened incorrectly, potentially leading them to loosen or fall out over time. The result is an unsecured seat, which increases the risk of injury during a crash. The seat frame supplier is identified as Adient. Honda stated that production included frames the supplier had previously marked as scrapped.

The recall affects the 2023 Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid, as well as the 2024 Honda Pilot and HR-V. Six Acura Integra vehicles are also included. The earliest vehicle involved was manufactured on April 4, 2023, and the latest on January 26, 2024.

Dealers were notified on January 30, 2026, and will replace the driver's seat frame with a correctly assembled one at no cost. Owners will be informed by mail no later than March 9, 2026.

For context, the supplier implemented an additional torque verification check in January 2024 and updated the equipment's software a month later. This recall applies to vehicles built before these changes were made, including some new 2026 models already in use.
