Tesla opens FSD training center in China, no launch date set
In a recent media interview, Tesla's vice president in China, Grace Tao, announced that Tesla has opened a training center in China to fully adapt its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system to local driving conditions. However, she also stated that the company has not yet set a specific date for the official launch of FSD in China.
Tao emphasized that Tesla's FSD system is rapidly accumulating data. According to the company executive, the Full Self-Driving system has already collected over 7.5 billion miles of real-world driving data globally.
These comments from Tesla's top manager in China come amid previous statements by Elon Musk suggesting regulatory approval in China could be obtained by 2026. During Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in November 2025, Musk clarified that FSD had received only partial approval in China, with full clearance potentially coming in February or March 2026.
