GM service update addresses heat shield fastening in 2025 vans

General Motors has released service update N252538330 for certain 2025 model year Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans. The update addresses a potential issue with the fastening of the heat shield for the electronic brake control module (EBCM).

According to the company, the defect may involve a damaged or missing bolt securing the thermal shield. This service update affects 77 vehicles sold in the United States.

This is not a recall, so owners are not required to specifically visit a dealer. Inspection and repair will be performed during routine maintenance appointments. Before any work begins, dealers must verify the vehicle identification number in the GM Global Warranty Management system. Vehicles in dealer inventory must be checked before being delivered to customers.

For the repair, a new bolt (11588725) and nut (11546452) are used. The work takes approximately 0.5 hours and involves lifting the vehicle, removing the front heat shield mounting on the driver's side frame rail, and installing the new hardware kit.

The service update will remain active until February 29, 2028. The Express model continues to be one of the most popular vehicles in the commercial segment for small businesses, making timely resolution of such issues crucial for reliable operation.
