GM recalls 2014 Chevrolet Cruze for loose roof rail airbags

General Motors has officially reported a risk that the side airbags on 2014 Chevrolet Cruze models may loosen from the inner surface of the roof.

According to GM, the issue involves the Roof Rail Airbag (RRAB) modules positioned beneath the cabin roof. The company notes that this flaw markedly increases the likelihood of serious injuries to drivers and passengers. With components located directly above occupants’ heads, secure mounting is non-negotiable.

To resolve the problem, GM has instructed its dealers to immediately replace the defective side airbags at no cost to vehicle owners. Swift action here looks like the right call.

For now, it remains unclear how many 2014 Cruze vehicles are affected by the recall.
