BYD Linghui M9: hybrid MPV for commercial fleets and ride-hailing

BYD has released official images of the Linghui M9, a large seven-seat MPV designed specifically for the taxi and ride-hailing markets. This model debuts under the new Linghui sub-brand, which includes the e5, e7, and e9 electric sedans, with the M9 as its sole hybrid offering. Externally, the newcomer echoes the styling of the BYD Xia DM-i, featuring a similar grille, distinctive lighting, and the signature "Chinese knot" taillights, but with revised chrome accents and the sub-brand's logo.

The dimensions are substantial: 5,200 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,045 mm—55 mm longer than the Xia DM-i. Curb weight reaches 2,470 kg, and the vehicle rides on 235/60 R18 tires. Options include one or two sunroofs, regular or tinted glass, cameras at the mirror bases, and additional rear cameras.

The powertrain combines a 1.5T turbocharged engine (BYD472ZQB, 115 kW / 154 hp), a synchronous electric motor (TZ210XYD, 200 kW / 268 hp), and a Blade battery. While the exact capacity isn't disclosed, for reference, the Xia DM-i uses a 20.39 kWh battery, which delivers around 100 km of CLTC range in pure electric mode.

The Linghui M9 targets a strategically important niche—transport services and corporate fleets—where a spacious cabin, fuel efficiency, and hybrid architecture with low operating costs are key. This move strengthens BYD's position in the commercial PHEV-MPV segment, which is growing rapidly in China and starting to take shape in Europe.
