Tesla advances Megapack battery factory project in Brookshire, Texas
Tesla is advancing a new Megapack battery system factory project in Brookshire, Texas. The company has fully leased two industrial buildings totaling 153,800 square meters, which have been sold to an institutional investor. Located in the Empire West industrial park, these facilities will become Tesla's new mega-factory.
The company plans to invest nearly $200 million into the site. Approximately $44 million will go toward infrastructure upgrades, including power supply and engineering systems, while around $150 million is earmarked for production equipment.
Building No. 9, covering about 92,900 square meters, will serve as the main Megapack assembly hall. Building No. 10, with an area of roughly 55,700 square meters, will be used for warehousing and logistics.
Waller County authorities have approved a 10-year tax incentive, contingent on meeting investment and staffing commitments. Tesla aims to create at least 375 jobs by the end of 2026 and increase that number to 1,500 by 2028.
This new plant will complement the facility in Lathrop, California, boosting production of energy storage systems that help stabilize power grids and integrate renewable sources. For the company, this represents one of the fastest-growing segments in its lineup of new vehicles for 2026 and energy solutions.
