Nissan's safety technologies earn Parents award for family vehicles
To determine this year's winners, Parents experts spent several months testing over 150 vehicles across all major segments. They evaluated safety technologies, ease of installing child seats, real-world driving performance, and overall family readiness.
The judges noted that while advanced driver assistance and safety systems are becoming more common across the industry, Nissan stands out by offering a comprehensive suite of technologies paired with simple, intuitive controls. Parents experts praised Nissan for its thoughtful integration of safety and driver assistance features. These systems make driving more comfortable without unnecessary complexity and provide reliable protection for the whole family from the moment the driver gets behind the wheel.
The award recognizes the Nissan ProPILOT Assist system and the Shield 360 safety technologies. ProPILOT Assist simplifies highway driving with one-button activation and clear dashboard indicators that help manage speed, lane position, and steering.
ProPILOT Assist 2.12, Nissan's most advanced driver-assist technology, allows attentive drivers to take their hands off the wheel while traveling on single-lane highways. The system independently adjusts acceleration, steering, and braking across more than 320,000 kilometers of compatible highways.
The Safety Shield 360 system provides an additional layer of safety through six standard features: automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and high-beam assist. Using cameras, radar, and sonar, these systems monitor the space around the vehicle to help prevent collisions and increase driver awareness, assisting families in a wide variety of everyday driving situations.
