Mercedes-Benz patents built-in head massager for cars

Mercedes-Benz is pushing the boundaries of premium comfort with a new patent for a built-in head massager. The device is integrated into the headrest and concealed behind a motorized cover.

When activated, an electric-powered mechanism extends the massage element on a special arm. The system can adjust its position based on the passenger's height and head posture, using sensors to adapt.

According to the description, the device is fully hidden when inactive, preserving the cabin's design. Control is expected via the multimedia system or a mobile app.

This technology could complement existing seat massage features in models like the Mercedes S-Class or GLS. However, practical and safety concerns remain: a motorized mechanism near the head requires careful calibration and legal risk assessment.

For now, it's just a patent, but if this development reaches production, Mercedes will once again expand the limits of automotive luxury in the premium segment.
