Skoda introduces hybrid and plug-in hybrid models to Australian market

Skoda has expanded its lineup of electrified models in the Australian market. The automaker introduced the Octavia Select Hybrid, Octavia Wagon Hybrid, and the plug-in hybrid Superb PHEV, along with revealing prices and specifications for these new versions.

The Skoda Octavia Select Hybrid starts at AU$43,990, while the Octavia Wagon Hybrid begins at AU$45,990. Both models feature a 1.5 TSI petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This setup delivers a combined output of 110 kW (148 hp), mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission.

Leading the new lineup is the Skoda Superb PHEV wagon, with pricing from AU$66,990. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 1.5 TSI engine with an 85 kW electric motor, resulting in a total system output of 150 kW (201 hp).

A 25.7 kWh battery provides an electric range of up to 112 km under the WLTP cycle. Charging options include AC charging at up to 11 kW or DC fast charging at up to 50 kW. In practice, this means the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 25 minutes using fast charging.
