Tesla Full Self Driving coming to Japan in 2026

American company Tesla is actively preparing to introduce its fully autonomous driving system, Full Self Driving (FSD), to Japanese users by the end of 2026. This rollout is expected to mark a significant milestone in the development of driverless transport across Asian nations.

Richie Hashimoto, president of Tesla's Japanese division, has officially confirmed the automaker's plans to deploy the self-driving system in Japan once all necessary testing and certification procedures are complete. According to the company representative, successful tests of the technology were previously conducted on Tesla's popular Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles.

Following official approval from regulators, Japan will receive the FSD software, which can be installed on approximately 40,000 Tesla vehicles currently in operation across the country. This means owners of these vehicles will be able to benefit from the latest autonomous driving technology.

This move reflects Tesla's strategy to expand the presence of its autonomous driving technology in Asia-Pacific markets, highlighting the company's push to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing electric vehicle and autonomous driving technology sectors.
