Polestar 6 electric roadster launch delayed to 2029

Polestar has delayed the launch of its Polestar 6 electric roadster. According to brand head Michael Loscheller, the model will not reach the market before 2029 and will be produced as a limited series.

The company had originally planned to unveil the production version earlier but has decided to focus on other projects. In the near term, Polestar intends to bring several new models to market.

The Polestar 6 is being developed from the Polestar O2 concept, which was unveiled around three and a half years ago. The electric convertible will feature a bonded aluminum platform and an 800-volt architecture, also used in the Polestar 5.

The manufacturer targets a power output of up to 650 kW (884 hp) and 900 Nm of torque. The EV will be equipped with two motors and all-wheel drive. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is expected to take about 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.

Previously, Polestar announced a limited run of 500 units for the Polestar 6 LA Concept edition. These cars will feature the Sky blue exterior color, a light leather interior, and 21-inch wheels, matching the concept car. The brand envisions the model becoming one of the most notable new arrivals at auto shows in the coming years, though its production will remain limited.
