Lexus ES Hybrid launch date announced for India

Lexus India has announced the launch date for the new generation ES Hybrid, with the premiere set for March 20, 2026. The Indian market will receive the updated sedan nearly a year after its global debut.

The Lexus ES has consistently seen steady demand in India, thanks to its hybrid powertrain and focus on rear passenger comfort. The lineup is expected to retain the ES300h and ES350h versions, both featuring a 2.5-liter gasoline engine as part of the hybrid system. Depending on the variant, there may be variations in power output and drivetrain options.

The new generation features a redesigned look with sharper LED lighting and a modern take on the brand's signature grille. An extended wheelbase should provide more space for second-row passengers, a key factor in India's premium segment.

Inside, a large touchscreen display, an updated Lexus interface, and a more minimalist dashboard layout are anticipated.

Once it hits the market, the Lexus ES will compete with the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series. The launch of the new ES underscores Lexus's strategy in India, which relies on proven hybrid technology rather than a full shift to electric vehicles. In a context of limited charging infrastructure and specific tax considerations, hybrids remain a more practical choice for the premium segment. This approach allows the brand to maintain competitiveness without sharply increasing prices or exposing customers to operational risks.
