Kia's EV technology features: safety and driver-assistance systems

Kia has released a video titled "Symphony of EV Technology," showcasing the safety and driver-assistance systems in its electric models EV3, EV4, and EV5. The video, available on Hyundai Motor Group's channels, explains how several technologies operate.

One key system is the Pedal Misapplication Safety Assist (PMSA), which helps prevent accidents caused by mistakenly pressing the accelerator during stops or parking. When obstacles are detected nearby, the system recognizes the situation and limits power, and in high-risk scenarios, it can bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

Another feature is the Acceleration Limit Assist (ALA). This system analyzes speed, road conditions, and accelerator pedal position. If unusual acceleration is detected, the driver receives a warning, and the system may then restrict power output.

The video also highlights technologies that enhance driving convenience. The i-PEDAL 3.0 system allows for acceleration and braking using just one pedal, including bringing the car to a full stop. During deceleration, energy is recovered and returned to the battery through regeneration. Meanwhile, the Smart Regenerative System 3.0 automatically adjusts the strength of regenerative braking by using camera and navigation data.

Such features are becoming a crucial part of the electric vehicle concept for urban environments, where safety and intelligent driver-assistance systems hold significant importance.
