BMW M4 M Legacy Edition celebrates 40 years of M coupes
BMW Canada is celebrating 40 years of high-performance M coupes with one of the most unusual M4 variants ever offered in the country: the 2027 BMW M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition. This special model, limited to just 40 units and available exclusively in Canada, is as rare as it is luxurious.
The number 40 is no coincidence. This year marks four decades since the original BMW M3 debuted, the car that started it all, and BMW Canada is treating this milestone as a true celebration rather than a minor footnote. The M Legacy Edition is offered in both M4 Coupe and M4 Competition Coupe (M xDrive) body styles, giving buyers a choice between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive while retaining access to all the package's exclusive features.
The M Legacy Edition is far more than a sticker package. BMW has brought together a suite of features typically reserved for flagship M models, integrating them in a way that looks genuinely harmonious. The standout visual element is the 826M-style wheels finished in an exclusive "golden bronze" color—previously available only on CS models and now specially adapted for this edition. Paired with three available heritage paint colors, the result is an M4 unlike any other.
These paint options nod to BMW M's past: Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue Metallic, and Imola Red II—all colors associated with iconic M cars from different eras. They are offered as BMW Individual Manufaktur custom finishes. Black M graphics run the length of the body from hood to trunk lid, incorporating the iconic M logo in a factory graphic package that BMW says is making its debut in the Canadian market.
Standard equipment includes an M steering wheel with Alcantara trim, usually found only on CS and CSL models. Also standard are fully equipped M Carbon Bucket Seats, black Merino leather, Nappa leather dashboard trim, carbon fiber interior accents, and the M Driver's Package.
The M4 M Legacy Edition is built on the same platform as the broader M4 lineup. The standard M4 Coupe comes with a 3.0-liter inline-six M TwinPower Turbo S58 engine, while the M4 Competition Coupe delivers up to 523 horsepower.
Pricing for the 2027 BMW M4 Coupe M Legacy Edition starts at CAD 115,500 for the standard M4 Coupe and CAD 124,500 for the M4 Competition Coupe with M xDrive. Production will begin in Germany in June 2026, with Canadian deliveries expected in the third quarter of 2026. With only 40 units allocated to the country, they are likely to sell out quickly.
