Next generation Polestar 2 electric sedan updates coming in 2027
Polestar is preparing the next generation of its electric sedan, the Polestar 2, with its debut expected in 2027. While retaining the core identity of the current model, the new version will feature noticeable design and construction updates.
According to company CEO Michael Lochscheller, the Polestar 2 remains a successful model, with over 180,000 units already on the road. Consequently, the upcoming version will represent an evolution rather than a complete conceptual overhaul. The manufacturer plans to enhance battery technology and extend the driving range.
The future Polestar 2 will be approximately 10 centimeters longer and feature a lower body. These adjustments aim to improve the car's proportions and increase rear passenger space.
Under the guidance of chief designer Philipp Römers, previously with Volkswagen Group, the new design will retain brand signature elements. These include the Dual-Blade headlights and the characteristic front end without a traditional grille. An aerodynamic element from the Polestar 3 will also be incorporated.
The interior will see changes as well. The central screen will become driver-oriented, and the interface will adopt a more user-friendly design with additional physical control buttons. The technical foundation will be a new Geely platform, which will also underpin future models from the brand. This new vehicle is part of Polestar's strategy to develop a fully electric lineup.
