Nissan Juke EV targets 350-mile range ahead of 2026 launch
Nissan has begun road testing its new electric Juke, with the premiere slated for 2026. Developed at the Sunderland plant, the model is positioned as the electric answer to the Ford Puma Gen‑E and Kia EV3, and is set to take a pivotal place in the brand’s European lineup.
The Juke EV rides on the CMF‑BEV platform it shares with the Nissan Leaf, yet it is expected to differ markedly in design and character. Nissan product chief Guillaume Cartier described it as a Marmite car—one some will embrace and others will not—and noted that its bold look is deliberately provocative to stand out among both in‑house stablemates and rivals. That approach points squarely at making it memorable on the road.
According to preliminary information, the Juke EV will use the Leaf’s battery and electric motors, targeting a driving range of more than 350 miles (around 560 km) and up to 214 hp. The brand’s European R&D team promises bespoke chassis tuning to underline a more dynamic feel. If delivered, that setup should make the small crossover feel more alert than you might expect.
The Juke EV will be built alongside the petrol Juke, the Leaf and the Qashqai in Sunderland. Pricing is intended to be close to the current ICE version—around £21,000—although the company acknowledges that hitting that mark will be challenging. With its mix of bold styling and familiar hardware, the new Juke looks set to be one of 2026’s most talked‑about electric crossovers.
