BMW iX3 aims to revive China sales after 2025 slump
BMW is facing a sales slowdown in China, its largest market. Over the first nine months of 2025, deliveries fell by 11.2%, while the third quarter showed a modest 0.4% decline. The company is pinning its recovery hopes on the next-generation BMW iX3, which will debut as the first model in the Neue Klasse lineup.
CEO Oliver Zipse indicated that the iX3 will serve as a cornerstone for the Chinese market. The model is slated to reach showrooms in mid-2026 and will feature a range of digital solutions developed specifically in China. He also emphasized that the electric crossover is intended to deliver a balanced and competitive mix of price, technology, and performance.
The strategy looks pragmatic: a localized software focus and a fresh electric SUV at the heart of the Neue Klasse suggest a direct response to shifting consumer expectations in China. If execution matches intent, the iX3 could give BMW much-needed momentum.
Analysts expect the BMW iX3 to strengthen the brand amid intensifying competition from domestic manufacturers and to rank among the most anticipated new cars of 2026 in the Asian market.
