Toyota TRD Hammer: new high-performance pickup in development
Toyota has filed a trademark application for TRD Hammer, hinting at a new high-performance pickup in development. The name is linked to Toyota Racing Development and has previously appeared in surveys among Tundra owners.
The new model is expected to slot above the TRD Pro version, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor. Preliminary reports suggest it could feature an off-road configuration focused on high speed and durability in tough conditions.
TRD Hammer is likely to come equipped with large wheels up to 37 inches in diameter, a modified suspension with increased travel, and enhanced off-road capabilities. This would allow it to compete in the so-called "super pickup" segment.
Currently, the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro already boasts a hybrid powertrain with 437 horsepower, but it's geared more toward versatile use than extreme off-road racing. This new project could shift the brand's positioning in this market.
If the model goes into mass production, it might join the top-tier off-road segment by 2026, intensifying competition in the high-performance pickup market. For now, Toyota has not officially confirmed launch timelines or technical specifications.
