New Panasonic multimedia system in 2026 Toyota RAV4 supports OTA updates
Toyota is rolling out a new multimedia system from Panasonic Automotive Systems in the 2026 RAV4. This marks the brand's first production vehicle to feature the Arene software platform, developed by Woven by Toyota.
The key innovation is over-the-air (OTA) update support. This system allows for remote updates not just to the multimedia features, but also to driver-assistance functions (ADAS), expanding the car's capabilities without a service visit.
The interface integrates navigation, climate control, and multimedia into a single system. Buyers can choose between 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch high-resolution screens. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, digital radio, and cloud-based navigation.
The system offers personalization through a customizable home screen and voice control synchronized with a smartphone. Additionally, it includes a camera recording function integrated with safety assistants.
Toyota views this platform as a foundation for developing more software-defined vehicles. In practice, this means the new system has already started appearing in North American markets and will be available in over 170 countries.
