Genesis GV90 flagship electric crossover and Connect W system
Genesis is preparing to launch its new flagship electric crossover, the GV90, which will be the brand's first model featuring the innovative Connect W system. Although development remains secretive, it's already known that the system will be closely tied to Hyundai's new software platform and will serve as a key element in the brand's digital transformation.
New Digital Ecosystem
According to preliminary information, the Connect W system is based on the Pleos platform—a comprehensive solution that integrates the car's operating system, multimedia, cloud services, and user interaction interfaces. This approach creates a unified digital ecosystem where all vehicle functions work in sync and adapt to the driver.
The new system is expected to offer enhanced autonomous driving capabilities, AI-powered intelligent assistants, advanced navigation that accounts for road conditions, and real-time data exchange. The interface will resemble a modern smartphone, which should simplify operation and improve usability.
GV90 as a Technology Showcase
The GV90 will become Genesis's most technologically advanced vehicle and a key model for the brand's next development phase. According to the company's plan, the lineup will expand significantly by 2026, with the GV90 serving as a demonstration of new solutions, including next-generation software architecture.
Prototypes are already undergoing testing in the U.S., Europe, and South Korea. Based on leaks, the vehicle will come in several versions, including a premium variant with scissor doors, emphasizing its status and focus on the ultra-luxury segment.
Platform and Prospects
The new model will likely be one of the first to use the eM platform, which promises up to a 50% increase in range compared to Hyundai's current electric vehicles. This will allow Genesis to compete not only with European premium brands but also with new players from China and the U.S.
The price of the GV90 hasn't been disclosed yet, but preliminary data suggests it could reach around $200,000 in Korea and start at approximately $100,000 in the American market. This clearly shows Genesis is targeting the premium segment, where software technologies now play a key role alongside design and comfort.
