Ford patents vehicle data exchange with TV stations for road safety
Ford has filed a patent for a system that enables data exchange between vehicles and television stations. The document was registered in 2020 and published in March 2026.
The technology allows a car to send and receive information about road conditions based on navigation and location data. This system will be integrated into the V2X concept, which involves vehicle interaction with infrastructure and other traffic participants.
According to the patent, the vehicle can transmit details on road events, such as new roads, potholes, construction work, and weather conditions. In turn, it can receive similar information from TV stations and alert the driver.
The aim of this development is to reduce traffic congestion and enhance road safety. However, Ford notes that filing the patent does not guarantee the technology will be implemented in production models. Such solutions highlight the direction of new car development in 2026, where digital services and data exchange are becoming key features of automotive functionality.
