Tesla discontinues Model S and X with 2026 deadline in Korea
This move marks the end of an era for the vehicles that not only helped Tesla become a leading automaker but also established its reputation as an innovator across the entire automotive industry. While these two models have served Tesla well, it's clearly time to wind down their production.
In its latest step to outline plans for discontinuing the Model S and Model X, Tesla's Korean division has officially set a deadline for new orders on both models: March 31, 2026.
Tesla has now announced strict global sales limits for the Model S and X for the first time. After this date, only existing inventory vehicles will be available in South Korea.
The decision to end production of the Model S and Model X aligns with CEO Elon Musk's vision for Tesla's future direction. During the fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call in January, Musk noted that these two models deserve an honorable retirement for everything they've done for the company.
