New Hyundai Tucson and Elantra models launching in 2026

Hyundai has officially confirmed that new generations of the Tucson and Elantra are in development. Both models will debut before the end of 2026, with South Korea being the first market to receive them before they roll out globally.

Tucson remains a key model

The Hyundai Tucson continues to be the brand's top sales driver. In 2025, 234,230 units were sold in the U.S., marking the model's best performance ever.

The new generation has already been spotted during testing. Based on prototypes, the crossover will feature a more angular design that takes cues from the larger Palisade. This suggests the model is shifting toward a more mature and rugged segment.

Elantra gets a chance to stay relevant

Despite declining interest in sedans, Hyundai is not giving up on the Elantra. In 2025, sales grew for the third consecutive year, reaching 148,200 units, which confirms steady demand.

The new generation will undergo significant changes, including a flatter roofline, bulkier pillars, and a more aggressive style. This is an attempt to bring the sedan's visual appeal closer to current trends.

New strategy: hybrids and local markets

Hyundai is also developing a new plug-in hybrid, set to arrive in 2027. The company continues to focus on adapting models for different markets rather than relying on universal solutions.

Overall, the updates to the Tucson and Elantra are not just generational changes but part of a broader strategy. Hyundai is strengthening its position in key segments while maintaining a balance between crossovers and traditional passenger cars.
