Hyundai Palisade faces sales challenges with recalls and incentives

Hyundai finds itself in a challenging position in the U.S. market. The Palisade crossover has received significant discounts, but it's also subject to sales restrictions that effectively prevent some customers from purchasing it.

Discounts Increase Despite Problems

In March, Hyundai boosted incentives for the Palisade, particularly for top trims. For the Calligraphy trim, the discount rose to $2,000, and with additional financing offers, it can reach $3,000. This is a high level of support even for a recently updated model. Additional bonuses apply to other versions, including the XRT Pro, along with leasing offers up to $1,500.

Recall and Safety Issues Are the Cause

The primary factor is a recall related to a rear-seat incident that led to tragic consequences. The publication Tarantas News reported on this earlier. The restrictions affect the Limited and Calligraphy versions, which are temporarily banned from sale.

The situation has also impacted the related Kia Telluride, increasing pressure on the brand. For Hyundai, this is a blow to its image, especially considering the Palisade's role as a family flagship.

Discounts Exist, But Buying Isn't Possible

The paradox is that the most advantageous versions are currently unavailable at dealerships. Buyers might see attractive prices, but they can't actually complete a purchase until the issue is resolved. It's unclear whether customers can lock in current terms for the future. If sales resume later, the discounts may change. In the end, Hyundai is in a rare situation: the Palisade has become one of the best deals in its segment, yet also one of the most inaccessible.
