New Porsche 911 Dakar hybrid version spotted testing
Porsche is once again testing an unusual version of the 911 Dakar, a raised sports car built for off-road driving. Spy shots suggest this is the second generation of the model, built on the updated 992.2 platform.
Externally, the changes will be minimal, featuring redesigned lighting with integrated turn signals and a slightly updated rear end. The model's signature high ground clearance and off-road character will remain its key features.
The technical details are far more interesting. While the previous Dakar was equipped with an engine from the Carrera GTS producing around 473 horsepower, the new generation is expected to receive a hybrid powertrain from the updated GTS. This means roughly 543 horsepower and instant torque thanks to an electric motor. Inside, we can expect a next-generation digital instrument cluster and updated multimedia system, matching other post-facelift 911 models.
Experts note that Porsche continues to develop niche versions even in the era of electrification. The new 911 Dakar exemplifies how the brand blends tradition with modern technology. It is highly likely the model will again be a limited edition, automatically making it a target for collectors and investors.
Porsche understands the market perfectly: such projects aren't about mass sales, but about image and emotion. And given the success of the first Dakar, the second is poised to be even more desirable.
