New Renault Koleos hybrid SUV launches in Brazil with 245 HP

Renault is preparing to launch the new-generation Koleos in Brazil, betting on hybrid technology and a large format. The first vehicles have already been delivered to warehouses, pre-orders start on April 1, and sales begin on April 17.

245-HP 1.5 Hybrid

The new Koleos features an HEV hybrid system, a first for Renault in this market. At its core is a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 144 horsepower and two electric motors that add another 136 horsepower. Total output reaches 245 horsepower. It uses a DHT transmission with three gears, designed for smooth switching between gasoline and electric modes.

Dimensions and Geely Platform

The crossover is built on the CMA architecture, developed jointly with Geely and used, for example, in the Volvo XC40. The model's length is about 4.78 meters, placing it in the segment of large family SUVs.

The trunk offers 545 liters, and the cabin is designed for five seats. Inside, there are three 12.3-inch screens, including a display for the passenger, along with three-zone climate control and premium materials.

Aiming to Compete with Chinese Models

The new Koleos is positioned as a competitor to models like the BYD Song Plus and Haval H6. The expected price is in the range of 250,000 to 300,000 reais, which corresponds to the mid-size hybrid SUV segment.

In practice, Renault is using a proven strategy: combining a large body, a hybrid system, and a modern platform. This allows the brand to re-enter the competitive fray in one of the fastest-growing segments.
