Fiat Uno revival: New model coming in 2028 for Latin America

Stellantis is preparing to bring back one of FIAT's most iconic models—the successor to the Uno. The new car is expected by 2028 and will primarily target Latin American markets, where the model has historically enjoyed strong demand.

Where and for whom the model is being created

Brazil and other regional countries will be the main markets, as the FIAT Uno remained popular there for a long time and saw several generations. Today, its role is filled by the budget-friendly FIAT Mobi, which is set to make way for the newcomer.

Whether the model will appear in Europe remains an open question. While the project is being considered globally, the clear priority is developing markets.

Technical base and format

The new vehicle is being developed under the internal code F1X. It will be a compact hatchback with increased ground clearance—essentially a blend of a city car and a crossover.

It will be based on the CMP platform, already used in models like the Citroën C3 and the new FIAT Grande Panda. This move should help cut costs and streamline production.

Role in Stellantis's strategy

The project will join a broader lineup of affordable models, which also includes the Argo and Fastback. The main goal is to offer an inexpensive car with modern design and decent specs.

In a landscape of rising competition and pressure from Chinese automakers, Stellantis is betting on a proven concept of affordable transportation.

In the end, the new FIAT Uno could become more than just a nostalgic throwback—it might emerge as a key product for the mass market. Still, its prospects in Europe remain uncertain for now.
