Volkswagen ID.5 electric crossover removed from Dutch lineup
Volkswagen has removed the ID.5 electric crossover from its model lineup in the Netherlands. This decision was made by the local importer, though production of the model continues and it remains available in other countries for now.
The ID.5 is essentially a coupe-styled version of the ID.4, featuring a more sloping roofline, a rear spoiler, and a redesigned front bumper. However, these changes were apparently not enough to justify its higher price compared to the base model.
The weak demand for the ID.5 reflects a broader decline in interest for coupe-crossover segments, which often lose out to more practical SUV variants. Unofficial reports suggest the model could be discontinued entirely by 2027, following an update to the ID.4.
Despite its departure from the market, the ID.5 is still available on the used market, where it can be found for under €20,000.
This situation highlights shifting consumer preferences, even as electric vehicles for urban use continue to evolve. In practice, practicality and cost remain key factors for buyers.
