Skoda 1000 MBX electric concept reimagines a 1960s icon
Skoda has unveiled a new concept within its Icons Get A Makeover series, where the brand’s historic models are reimagined for today. This time, designers have presented an electric take on the rare 1000 MBX coupe from the 1960s, a car originally built in a limited run of 2,517 units. The homage keeps the character of the original while clearly pointing toward an electric future.
The concept uses a 2+2 layout with rear-hinged back doors and reconfigurable rear seats. Inside, a minimalist cabin focuses on a transparent panel that projects key information along with a map of the Most racetrack. The stripped-back treatment feels intentional: fewer distractions, more attention on the experience behind the wheel.
The model features air suspension with adjustable ride height and is conceived not just for performance-minded driving but for daily use as well. While it remains in render form, it could be a standout in the brand’s 2026 sports lineup and a glimpse of how Skoda imagines the future of compact electric cars.
