Nissan X-Trail 2026 shifts to e-Power hybrid technology
Nissan has updated the 2026 X-Trail, completely abandoning the 1.5 VC-Turbo gasoline engine and betting on the e-Power hybrid technology. The model is available with 204 and 213 horsepower, with a starting price in Spain of 42,334 euros. This marks a significant step toward electrification for this popular family SUV.
Simplified lineup and new trims
The updated X-Trail features a revised version structure. The range retains the Acenta, N-Connecta, Adventure, and Tekna trims, though the top-tier Tekna+ has been discontinued.
Buyers can still choose five- and seven-seat options, maintaining the model's practicality in the family crossover segment.
Full shift to e-Power technology
The main change is the move away from a traditional gasoline engine. Now, the entire lineup is built around the e-Power system, where the internal combustion engine acts as a generator, and an electric motor drives the wheels.
The front-wheel-drive version delivers 204 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive e-4ORCE variant offers 213 horsepower, providing more stable on-road behavior.
Pricing and positioning
The 2026 X-Trail starts at 42,334 euros and can exceed 54,000 euros for fully equipped all-wheel-drive versions.
The 2026 Nissan X-Trail illustrates how mass-market SUVs are gradually transitioning to electrified solutions. Simplifying the lineup and moving away from internal combustion engines make the model more straightforward for the market, though it also reduces options for more conservative buyers.
