Toyota launches updated 2027 Land Cruiser with hybrid powertrain
Toyota has launched the updated 2027 Land Cruiser in the U.S. market with a starting price of $57,880. The model retains its classic TNGA-F ladder-frame architecture and off-road DNA, receiving targeted improvements and a hybrid powertrain.
At its core is the i-FORCE MAX hybrid system: a turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor delivers 326 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is rated at 12.3 L/100 km, while towing capacity reaches up to 2.7 tons. Key off-road features remain, including full-time four-wheel drive, differential locks, the Multi-Terrain Select system, and Crawl Control for navigating challenging terrain.
New additions include a raised air intake for severe conditions, fresh color options, and enhanced second-row comfort with ventilation and heating. The 1958 Edition gets a retro-inspired look with round headlights, while the higher trim level offers a more modern design and expanded equipment.
The interior offers a digital instrument cluster up to 12.3 inches, multimedia features, wireless charging, and audio systems including JBL.
Despite the updates, the Land Cruiser stays true to its utilitarian yet tech-savvy off-roader concept. The price has increased compared to the previous version, and optional extras can significantly raise the final cost.
Toyota has not altered its winning formula: the 2027 Land Cruiser is an evolution, not a revolution. The hybrid system modernizes the model, but its essence remains unchanged—a reliable, body-on-frame SUV ready for any conditions.
