Hyundai introduces VENUS and EARTH concept cars for China's EV market

Two all-electric concept cars designed for China—the VENUS concept, an ultra-modern sedan, and the EARTH concept, a dependable family SUV—mark the start of a new chapter. Both showcase Hyundai Motor's readiness to enter China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market.

Hyundai Motor's IONIQ brand, focused on all-electric vehicles, has quickly become a global benchmark for innovation, design, and quality. Its lineup, including popular models like the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9, reflects Hyundai's advanced electrification capabilities and human-centered mobility philosophy.

In China, IONIQ will evolve from a product line into a broader mobility ecosystem tailored to local consumers. While maintaining Hyundai's globally proven safety and quality standards, IONIQ is being reimagined with localized technologies, services, and user experiences for China's fast-growing EV market.

As part of this strategy, Hyundai is introducing a unique naming system specifically for China. Future IONIQ models will be named after "planets," symbolizing how each vehicle revolves around the customer—the central figure in IONIQ's new universe.

The VENUS and EARTH concepts are the first tangible results of Hyundai's new China strategy. They serve as design barometers for future IONIQ production models.

Inspired by the eternal beauty of the brightest planet, VENUS presents a new sedan. Its high-tech exterior, finished in a radiant gold color symbolizing breakthrough, exploration, and glory, features a lightweight framed roof and a transparent spoiler. A unique curved silhouette gives the car a distinctive look, emphasizing its character.

VENUS's driver-focused cabin with panoramic views evokes Venus's glowing atmosphere through multi-level ambient lighting. A sharp contrast between soft suede and monochrome seatbacks in chromed gold highlights the premium interior, while a friendly character named "Lumi" is integrated into the design to underscore the playful connection between driver and car.

EARTH is a bold, powerful family SUV embodying the vitality and biological balance of our home planet. With a mix of sharp angles and sculpted volumes painted in Aurora Shield color, the vehicle looks futuristic. Details like EARTH's anti-slip pads and exposed bolts add a rugged touch.

Inside, EARTH offers a comfortable "little Earth" with innovative Air-Hug seats made from soft air modules. Calm lighting mimicking tree shadows and thoughtful restrained-tech elements create a sense of spaciousness and freedom. A playful character named "Aero" and hidden patterns resembling Beijing maps add a touch of discovery.
