Kia teases new Telluride ahead of the LA Auto Show: is this the WKNDR off-road concept?

Kia has dialed up the intrigue ahead of the Los Angeles show, unveiling a new Telluride hidden beneath a heavy cover. Parked beside it is the already-unwrapped second-generation model—a clear nudge that the newcomer is more than a dressed-up special. The company says there is more to come, stoking anticipation for November 20.

The leading theory points to a new WKNDR off-road concept. Kia has already been flirting with adventure-inspired themes, and with overlanding on the rise, the timing fits. A potential Telluride WKNDR would plausibly bring extra ground clearance, chunky off-road tires, expedition-style roof racks, protective cladding, auxiliary lighting, and a modular cargo area—kit that signals purpose as much as style.

Other paths are on the table. Kia might have cooked up a punchier GT-line-style variant to sharpen the sporty angle, or rolled out a preview of a hybrid Telluride—an avenue the brand is actively pursuing. There’s also a chance it’s a design prototype, laying out future styling cues.

Either way, the teaser does its job: attention is firmly on the debut. And if that cover really hides the WKNDR, the brand stands to bolster its standing among adventure-ready family SUVs.
