Smart has started first deliveries of the Elf #5 EHD hybrid, handing cars to customers simultaneously in Beijing, Nanjing, Jinan and Chengdu. The model had previously reached the market priced at 189,900–239,900 yuan, positioning itself among mid-size hybrid SUVs with an emphasis on extended range.

The design stays true to the all-electric #5, with a wide LED light bar across the front and four capsule-style elements in the lighting units. Dimensions stand at 4,705 × 1,920 × 1,710 mm, with a 2,900-mm wheelbase.

Inside, there’s a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke steering wheel and a large 25.6-inch AR-HUD. The center panel carries a pair of 13-inch 2.5K AMOLED screens.

The hybrid system is built on Geely’s Thor 2.0 technology: the 1.5T engine produces 120 kW, while the electric motor delivers 200 kW and 380 Nm. A three-speed DHT handles transmission duties. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes 6.9 seconds, or 7.2 seconds with the smaller battery.

Two LFP battery options are available: 20 kWh (CLTC-rated electric range of 120 km) and 41.46 kWh (252 km). The combined driving range is quoted at 1,483–1,615 km, with fuel consumption in depleted mode of 4.4 l/100 km.

Smart is betting on frugality and distance, offering a hybrid that blends low consumption, long-haul capability and generous equipment. On paper, the mix looks well judged for drivers seeking EV-like daily running with straightforward long-range flexibility.
