Toyota GR GT sports car: U.S. launch details and buyer restrictions

Toyota is preparing to launch its new GR GT sports car in the U.S. market and is considering limiting the pool of buyers. The model is aimed at affluent clients and will be sold through select Lexus dealers.

The car is expected to cost over $200,000. The GR GT features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with a hybrid system. Total power will be at least 641 horsepower, surpassing the figures of the previous flagship LFA.

The company plans to implement a special sales and service scheme. More than 100 dealers have already expressed interest in handling the model, but not all will get access—the focus is on markets with high demand for premium vehicles. Buyers will also be able to attend the GR Academy, which offers practical driving sessions, including drift and autocross.
