BMW M3 Edition 40 Jahre celebrates 40 years with limited China release
BMW has unveiled a special edition M3 called the Edition 40 Jahre to celebrate the iconic model's 40th anniversary. This limited-run version will be available exclusively in China, with production capped at just 40 units.
The anniversary edition comes in two body styles: the G80 sedan and G81 Touring estate. The sedan features the signature Laguna Seca Blue paint, while the Touring stands out with a more vibrant Wildberry color and gold wheels. Both models showcase glossy black accents and carbon fiber elements, with key distinguishing badges reading "40 Jahre M3" placed both externally and inside the cabin.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with carbon fiber sport seats trimmed in a Silverstone/Black combination. Color accents vary by version: blue for the sedan and red for the Touring. Standard equipment also includes the M Driver's Package and a heated Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
Technically, the car remains unchanged under the hood. However, thanks to the M Driver's Package, top speed increases to 290 km/h for the sedan and 280 km/h for the Touring. Power comes from the classic inline-six engine, which remains true to the model's driver-focused character.
Overall, the BMW M3 Edition 40 Jahre is less about being a new model and more about becoming a collectible. With its limited production run, unique colors, and exclusive availability in China, this edition stands as one of the rarest M3 variants ever made, especially as the next generation approaches.
