Lucid targets Germany as key market for European EV expansion
American electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid sees Germany as a key market for its European expansion. The head of the company's European division, Lawrence Hamilton, emphasized Germany's importance as the region's largest automotive market and one of the most demanding for premium vehicles.
Lucid already offers the Air sedan in Europe and plans to expand its presence with the large Gravity SUV, which measures over five meters in length. Positioned as an electric car with long range, fast charging, and a spacious interior, the Gravity can accommodate up to seven adult passengers. Internally, the company refers to it as the first seven-seat supercar.
The base model will cost under €100,000, making it eligible for tax advantages in corporate sales. According to Hamilton, strengthening Lucid's position in Germany should boost the brand's global prestige.
In the near future, Lucid plans to begin production of three mid-size models targeting a more mainstream segment. These include the Cosmos and Earth crossovers, which will be manufactured at a plant in Saudi Arabia.
The company is betting on a combination of efficiency, design, and performance to compete with traditional brands. With the market growing, Lucid's new 2026 models are set to become a key factor in intensifying competition within the electric vehicle segment.
