Mercedes-Benz recall: faulty front short-range sensor PCB affects 139 vehicles

Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall due to a faulty printed circuit board in the front short-range sensor that detects approaching objects. Because of this defect, the system may misidentify what it sees, which is the kind of glitch that can unsettle drivers even if it is not dramatic on its own.

The campaign spans a wide range of models: A-, C- and G-Class cars; the GLA and GLC crossovers; Sprinter and V-Class vans; the electric EQV, EQE, EQA, eVito and eVito Tourer; as well as the Vito Tourer.

Even so, the scale is modest overall: 139 vehicles worldwide, 29 of them in Germany. A limited tally, but anything that touches object detection deserves prompt attention.

Mercedes-Benz advises owners of the affected vehicles to visit an authorized service center for a free replacement of the faulty sensor. The remedy is straightforward, and taking care of it quickly helps ensure systems that depend on that sensor work as intended in everyday traffic.
