Liberty Walk Dodge Challenger Review: Widebody Kit, Scissor Doors, Air Ride

The classic Dodge Challenger has been turned into a flashy show car, and the results are mixed. Japanese tuning shop Liberty Walk reworked the American muscle car, adding its signature widebody kit and a host of extreme details. For drivers, this matters because such projects reveal where tuner culture is headed.

The biggest change is the bodywork. The car sports bolted-on fender flares, a hallmark of Liberty Walk’s style, making it visibly wider than the standard version, including the factory Widebody. Also new are a hood, an aggressive front splitter, a revised rear bumper, and a small spoiler. The look is completed by large deep-dish wheels wrapped in low-profile tires.

But the main focus is on style. The suspension appears to be air-ride, which is why the car sits almost flush on the ground. Add scissor doors—a feature usually reserved for supercars—and the result is important because the project moves away from the classic muscle-car image and transforms it into a showpiece where visual impact trumps practicality.

In the tuning market, projects like this highlight a trend toward individuality and visual flair. For an owner, it means a chance to stand out, but with compromises: comfort, everyday usability, and even ease of entry take a back seat. That is especially true given the extreme ride height and unconventional doors.
