Volkswagen ID Polo revealed as the first all-electric Polo with impressive range

Volkswagen has finally unveiled the production version of the ID Polo, making it the first fully electric Polo in history. The model offers a range of up to 455 km and starts at €24,330, positioning it as one of the most affordable newcomers in the segment.

Built on the new MEB+ platform, the car comes with several power options, ranging from 116 to 211 hp. The base model uses a 37 kWh battery, while higher trims are equipped with a 52 kWh unit. Fast charging can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 24 to 27 minutes. Despite its compact size, the electric car is more spacious inside, with the trunk growing to 441 liters.

The interior focuses on a blend of technology and convenience. A 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment screen are standard, but physical buttons have returned for key functions. This move seems sensible given the criticism of touch-sensitive interfaces in previous models.

From a market perspective, the ID Polo plays a key role for Volkswagen. It is set to compete with the Renault 5, Peugeot e-208, and Chinese electric cars. Production in Spain helps keep the price down and speeds up deliveries to Europe. A future GTI version, which would be the first hot electric Polo, adds to the excitement.
