Chery iCAR V27: A New Affordable SUV for the European Market

Chinese automaker Chery is preparing to launch a new SUV called the iCAR V27 on the European market. The model will be part of the lineup under a new brand and targets the affordable SUV segment.

The vehicle adopts a classic off-road style and visually resembles the Land Rover Defender. It measures 4.9 meters in length, 1,976 mm in width, and 1,894 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2.91 meters. Notable features include a spare tire mounted on the tailgate, squared-off bodywork, and 21-inch wheels.

Inside, the cabin gets a digital instrument cluster and a multimedia screen, along with wireless charging, a panoramic roof with ambient lighting, and a built-in air fragrance system. The features align with those found in more premium models.

The powertrain is a range-extender hybrid system, comprising a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, providing all-wheel drive. Total output reaches 455 hp, allowing a 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds. Electric-only range exceeds 150 km, while total range is over 1,000 km.

In China, the price ranges from €24,000 to €30,000. European pricing is expected to be higher. Against competitors, this model could position itself as a more affordable alternative among top-end SUVs in 2026. An official European market launch is anticipated in 2027.
