Genesis GV60 Magma unveiled: a luxury high-performance EV

Genesis has unveiled the GV60 Magma at Circuit Paul Ricard and at the Los Angeles Auto Show, marking the start of a new era for the brand—"Luxury High Performance." It is the first production car in the Magma performance line, blending a premium look, advanced technology, and serious electric muscle.

The GV60 Magma sits on a wider track with a lower stance, wearing unique bumpers, enlarged air intakes, and 21-inch forged wheels. Inside, Chamude trim with orange accents and an exclusive steering wheel sets a focused yet upscale tone.

The electric motors produce 609 hp and 740 Nm, rising to 650 hp and 790 Nm in Boost Mode. The run to 200 km/h takes 10.9 seconds. The setup includes Launch Control, three drive modes, and a reworked electronically controlled suspension.

Genesis emphasizes balance and precision: optimized chassis geometry, reinforced mounts, improved brakes, and active noise cancellation are designed to preserve top-tier comfort even on wide performance tires. On paper, that mix should keep the car planted without turning brittle—an elusive sweet spot for many fast EVs.

The GV60 Magma adds distinctive tools as well: VGS (a virtual gearbox), Drift Mode, and HPBC battery control. Switch to "Magma Mode," and the instrument cluster surfaces key readouts—temperature, force, accelerations, and remaining boost time. The approach feels driver-first rather than tech-for-tech's-sake, which is exactly what this segment needs.
