Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric Test Drive Reveals High Efficiency

An international dynamic test drive is usually a key real-world evaluation for a new model, and that was the case for the new Opel Astra and Opel Astra Sports Tourer. Journalists from 22 countries traveled to Croatia to try out the updated and improved model in real driving conditions. Among the various powertrain options, special attention was given to the Astra Sports Tourer Electric.

Over the course of roughly 200 test drives, journalists covered a total of more than 14,000 kilometers in the electric vehicles. The results highlight that, alongside a sporty yet comfortable ride, the Astra Sports Tourer Electric stands out for its high energy efficiency. The average energy consumption across all test drives was 15.7 kWh per 100 kilometers, which closely matches the official WLTP figures of 15.6–15.8 kWh per 100 kilometers.

The tests in Croatia were not conducted according to a predetermined plan but in real-world, sometimes adverse conditions. Media representatives drove the Astra Sports Tourer Electric on challenging routes through city and country roads, along coastal towns, and on winding mountain roads—all under varying temperatures and weather conditions.

To recap, the Astra Sports Tourer Electric delivers 115 kW (156 hp) with a 58 kWh battery (55 kWh usable capacity) and improved aerodynamics, providing an emission-free range of up to 445 kilometers (WLTP). That’s 35 kilometers more than before.
