CUPRA Formentor VZ5 revealed: 390 hp, limited run, specs
CUPRA has detailed the new Formentor VZ5, a limited run of just 4,000 units. It stands as the most powerful model in the range, aimed squarely at drivers who value sharp performance. At its core is a 2.5 TSI five-cylinder petrol engine rated at 390 hp and 480 Nm, paired with a seven-speed DSG. The sprint to 100 km/h takes 4.2 seconds, and top speed is 280 km/h. Taken together, these figures place the newcomer among the standout sports cars expected in 2026.
Visually, the VZ5 leans into a more aggressive stance: a widened body kit, a black grille, carbon-fiber accents, and four diagonally stacked exhaust outlets. It rides on 20-inch wheels with Akebono brakes, while the suspension sits 10 mm lower. The DCC system offers 15 levels of tuning and drive modes that include Comfort, Sport, CUPRA, Drift, Individual, and Offroad. The presence of Drift mode, in particular, hints at the car’s playful side without losing focus on everyday composure.
Inside, the cabin matches the brief with Dinamica sport seats and optional CUP Bucket chairs, complemented by aluminum trim. A 10.25-inch digital cluster handles the driving data, and a 12-inch central display supports navigation, voice control, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. The interface keeps the key functions clear and close at hand, which suits the car’s performance-first mindset.
Production is scheduled to begin in Barcelona in the first quarter of 2026, with pricing to be announced later. The limited production run emphasizes its niche appeal and should make each example feel that bit more special.
